Laércio de Freitas

Laércio Freitas makes part of Tabajara Orchestra (Severino Araújo) and of Radamés Gnatalli Sextet.

He acted as arranger and regent in disc companies, making the musical accompaniment for various artists as Ângela Maria, Maria Bethânia, Maria Valle, Emílio Santiago, Nancy Wilson, Clara Nunes and The Supremes, among others. He was the arranger for Arthur Moreira Lima and wrote the arrangements for four plays of Pixinguinha for the LP - Paulo Moura e Clara Svener interpretando Pixinguinha . He made the transcriptions, reductions and arrangements for the CD Moreira Lima interpreta Piazzola , launched in Brazil, Europe and Japan. He further acts as arranger with the Symphony Band of the State of São Paulo, to which he administers practical classes for joint execution. He signed the motive arrangement for piano and orchestra - Amazonas: um poema sinfônico - of João Donato and Everardo de Castro, presented at Teatro Amazonas (Manaus) by the own João Donato (piano) with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Amazonas, with regency of maestro Luiz Fernando Malheiro and narrative of Ricardo Cravo Albin.

With his group LF Combo, he was invited by the American Consulate for a presentation at Teatro Municipal de Piracicaba . He made the closing show of the annual season of Bar Talento Jazz and made shows in various night clubs of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as Café Piu-Piu, Baiúca, Ventimiglia, Pub Bar do Esporte Clube Pinheiros, 150 Nigth-Club do Maksoud Plaza and San Francisco Bay Bar, among others.

He participated as instrumentalist, composer and arranger in the project Memória do Piano Brasileiro performed at Museu da Imagem e do Som sponsored by the Culture Secretary of the State of São Paulo. He accompanied Cordélia C. Arruda in the concert - Cole Porter visita Satie - performed at Teatro Crowne Plaza. He acted in various musical events, as homage rendered to Dorival Caymmi when he completed 70 years old, promoted by Funarte; the Ciclo do Piano do Museu de Arte de São Paulo and the Summer Festival of Guarujá. He made presentations in Australia and Switzerland as well.

He took part of various television programs, like - Um toque de classe - (TV Manchete), - Alegria do Choro - and - Café Concerto - (TV Cultura), among others.

He participated in the following projects: Chorando Alto (SESC-Pompéia, SP), 100 Anos de Pixinguinha , (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, RJ) and A bênção Pixinguinha (SESC-Pompéia, SP), this last one with the special participation of Nailor Azevedo (Proveta).

He recorded the LPs: Laércio de Freitas e o som roceiro , São Paulo no balanço do choro , recording own compositions, Terna saudade , recording a waltz and Brazilian choros selection, and made exclusive records for Estúdio Eldorado within the series - Um piano ao cair da tarde - , having participated in one of the discs of homonymous series.

Nowadays he is preparing a new CD exclusively with less known works of Jacob do Bandolim, with special guest Alessandro Penezzi, to be release in 2006 by Maritaca.
