Vinicius Dorin

Vinicius began playing sax, flute and piano at two small cities’s bands named Sambrasil (from Itu) and Makros, while studying at Tatui’s Conservatory. After finishing his studies, he moved to Sao Paulo (capital) and started to play with many groups such as: Banda da Patroa, with Silvia Goes and Arismar do Espírito Santo; Maksoud Plaza’s Orquestra 150; Johnny Alf and Laércio de Freitas, among others.

Has participated as arranger in a Project dedicated to Brazilian score writers with maestros Cipó, Duda, Moacir Santos and Branco, among others. Recorded two CDs as a member of Banda Savana and took part in recordings and concerts with the best Brazilian musicians such as: Jane Duboc, Nenê, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Fernando Corrêa, Banda Mantiqueira and others.

In 1993 he has been invited to become a member of Hermeto Pascoal’s group, with whom he toured around the World and participated in the most known Jazz Festivals in places like San Francisco, New York, New Orleans, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tokyo, etc.

Recorded his first solo CD “Revoada” (Flight) in 2004, where he plays saxes, flutes and piano. This CD is based mostly upon his own compositions and arrangements, and shows his classic, jazz and Brazilian influences, using all sorts of rhythms such as maracatu, choro, etc. His musicians are Fernando Correa - guitar, Irio Jr - keyboard, Eneias Xavier - bass and, Nene - drums and also counts with very special guests like Hermeto Pascoal, Arismar do Espírito Santo and André Marques. Released on March 2005 by Maritaca.
